I have every symptom of depression that I’ve read about but nobody will help me get pills (im 16). I was wondering if there is a way for me to cure it at home myself without medication. Thanks.
First, never self diagnose. Make an appointment with your doctor and find out for sure. You are 16, so hormones also are playing a huge part in all of this and it could be so many other things like low blood sugar or electrolyte problems which also mimic depression. First, know for sure then together with your doctor, work out a recovery plan. In the meantime you can begin journaling and keep a list of your days that are good and ones not so good. It helps to know if there is a pattern going on for various reasons. Getting pills are not always the answer as there are other and always reasons underneath depression, unless you have always had a chemical imbalance in which case you would know you have been depressed since you were very little. Take care

If you can do it, it’s best not to be on medication, especially at your age because your brain is still physically developing. There is no such thing as a cure for depression because some depression is normal — after all, bad things happen that would depress anyone. But, if you feel depressed too often, there are a few things to try. Learn a relaxation technique such as meditation, yoga, guided imagery, or progressive relaxation. Exercise more, which releases chemicals that should give you a lift. Eat healthy and well-balanced meals. When you’re thinking depressed thoughts, try to analyze them to understand in what way they are distorted. Make note of how long your depression lasts because that way you will learn that it’s an illness (like any other) that you can wait out. Talk with a school guidance counselor or ask your parents to send you to a therapist so that you can learn more about your depression. Hang in there. Depression is common at your age because there’s a lot going on (thinking about your future career, relationships, moving away from home, graduating, etc.), but things will get easier. Good luck.

The previous answer gave sites for getting drugs without prescriptions. That is dangerous! Some antidepressant drugs make teens more dangerously depressed.
I wish curing depression was as easy as taking a drug, but it isn’t.
Try to talk to your family doctor or school counselor about referring you to treatment. Treatment from a specialist may or may not include drugs.
As far as helping yourself at home, you can try regular exercise, a good balanced diet, a good multivitamin with B complex, and doing useful helpful work (cleaning up your room and yard and working with those who are less fortunate). And, yes, I know you don’t feel like doing that! Look on it as an uncomfortable but valuable and cheap treatment! Your feelings are greatly affected by your physical self.
Remember that feelings do not rule you. If sad feelings come (and they do to everyone), you can choose to dwell on them or to think about other things. This, too, is not easy, but worth it. Finding someone to talk to who cares about you but won’t baby you can really help.
If something has happened to trigger the depressed feelings (a loss or a disappointment), look into books and groups that deal with such issues.
There are lots of self-help books about depression. Some great. Some good. Some junk! Ask your school or community counselor to recommend some or search on-line reading reviews.

You don’t have to rely on meds. Actually, the best thing you can do is get support from your family and friends. Play the compliment game, get your confidence up. Also, get some therapy. I know its not easy to tell your parents and stuff, but you need to. If you are truly depressed you should be in a lot of emotional pain, and it’s really unhealthy. Find a good psychologist that will help you.
All the meds will do is reduce a neurotransmitter called serotonin (basically a fancy chemical in your brain that regulates your mood.) because it is reducing the level of serotonin, you will somewhat ‘lose’ your personality, become emotionless, and feel very blah. Bored in a way. It’s how i felt. If your depression can be cured through therapy and support, i highly recommend you cure it that way. The medicine is only worth it, I believe, if you are depressed to the point it interferes with your whole entire life.

You need more excitement in your life, stir the pot, experiment, don’t live a dull and predictable life. Experience on a variety of levels, engage in social activities, go run, go bike, don’t stay at home all day.
If all that fails my friend smoke marijay
